New online shop!

Introducing my Etsy shopIt’s taken me a L O N G time but here at last is my first online shop, with a selection of original screenprints from the same editions as my picturebook illustrations, three kinds of Christmas cards and various OTHER THINGS.

It’s a bit like this but on the internet, and with less fairy lights:
(this was my stall at House of Illustration’s 2017 Illustrators Christmas Fair).

Also, I recently won some FREE Newt with crisps STICKERS (based on my screenprint) from @freestickerfriday so naturally I am slipping one into every order to pass on the freestickeriness.

Advent jam the third!

Ho-HO! It is that time of year again when Becky Palmer and I start a day late on our gloopy pot of Christmas comic jam and continue posting a panel a day (sometimes with gaps and gluts) throughout advent. If your toast needs MORE jam, you can catch up with our 2013 and 2014 comics here or on Becky’s blog, and ahem well I’m to go first:

Another pot of advent jam

Following on from the pie-based Christmas comic Becky Palmer and I made last year, here is a new comics jam for 2014. We will be adding a panel every day of advent, in theory (it does appear to be December 3rd though, so we may not be to be trusted). You can read it over there on Becky’s blog too.

Four months of not nothing

I have not done nothing since May, not quite.
Talk to the mouse
For one thing, in August I got proofs of The Girl with the Parrot on her Head:

The design and printing are lovely, thanks to Walker, and it will really be a book on February 5th (pre-orderable even now!).

In the meantime I am finishing my second book, which now goes by the name of ALPHONSE, THAT IS NOT OK TO DO! Here are Natalie and Alphonse watching bad TV:
And telly was awful
This book is mostly face acting and involves a lot of drawing the same monster MANY TIMES:
Who invited elephants? And the one with the orange dot gets it:

Blood, sweat, giraffes, Christmouse

I thought this project might kill me AND never get done, but here it sort-of is, a handprinted book about giraffes. It’s not how it was meant to be at all (apart from the cover) as I have never done this sort of screen-printing before, drawing onto drafting film to make the positive for the light blue layer, and it kept being under- or over-exposed so it’s all patchy and weird. But, it is some giraffes on some paper and that is something to hand in for my MA, maybe I will have another go after my deadline.
A handprinted book about giraffes

Ooh, in other news, LOAf is now available from Etsy, and is in the window of Foyles, where also our MA show will be from the 4th to the 9th of February. Also, HAPPY CHRISTMOUSE!
